Satish Babbar

Born on the very first day of the year in Delhi, the Capital of India, the Ghazal Maestro, Satish Babbar, with a rich resonant voice and melodious singing owns an endearing aura of charm and a multifaceted personality. He has been performing since1973 and has regaled and enthralled the audience across the world through his soulful and unique style of singing.

His musical talent surfaced at a very young age by the great support of his father Late Sh. S. L. Babbar, who was an industrialist. He had a brief spell of formal training under the greatest legends associated with the world of music – Late Pt. Shyam Bihari Ji, Padam Bhushan, Pt. Debu Chaudhary, Shri Raj Kumar Sharma Ji and the noted music director and arranger of the film fraternity Late Shri M.L. Sonic Sahab aka Master Ji.

As Ghazals, being his forte, Satish Babbar has tremendous emotional appeal and aesthetic sense and has an inherent aptitude for emotionally stirring music and philosophical poetry. His compositions are based on Raagas and he prefers to sing compositions of the Contemporary Poets along with the Maestros of the field.

Since last few years his daughter, Vani Babbar has been also accompanying him. Their performances embraces variety of genres, which includes, Traditional Taranas, Classical Tappe, Ghazals, Geets, Punjabi, Sufiana Qalaam and Duets. They have always received a thunderous response for their privileged performances across the world.

Apart from giving performances, Satish Babbar has been extensively involved in singing, directing and producing classical music, film songs, ballets, geets, bhajans etc. and has also acted in few films and T.V. serials. He has the distinction of being given a special T.V. coverage by B.B.C. during his tour to England. His biography has been included by the American Biographical Institute in the very famous book named “The Contemporary Who’s Who” in 2004 and has been honoured by them as a Consulting Editor of the above said book. Also he has been nominated by the American Biographical Institute as a Man Of The Year, 2004 and Man Of The Year, 2005. Also he was one of the jury members for the screening of Music category for Doordarshan Annual Awards, consecutively for years 2005, 2006 and 2007 by Prasar Bharti (Broadcasting Corporation of India), Directorate General Doordarshan, India. He is also empanelled as an Outstanding Artist by Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

Vani Babbar is a refreshing change from the idols and superstars of mass-marketed India. She is blessed with a silky voice like nightingale and is completely dedicated to her music. She shared the same platform for the first time with her father and Guru Mr. Satish Babbar, when she was in class nine and has been performing since then around the world.
Following her father’s footsteps she has not limited herself to the Ghazals only but has been experimenting in different genres which involves singing in different languages like Persian, Bengali, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri, Punjabi etc. she has sung series of rhymes for kids and has lend her voice for private albums as well as did voice-over for animation, ad films, documentary films and for mobile services.
